Education
I am a graduate of Bodyminded Alexander Technique in Sydney, where I received training under the guidance of Greg Holdoway, Anne Finlay, and Dave Carr. Through the Bodyminded program, I had the privilege of learning from master international teachers, including Cathy Madden, Jeremy Chance, and Lucia Walker. In early 2023, I furthered my expertise through intensive study with Ann Rodiger at the Balance Arts Center in New York City.
Personal Journey
I found Alexander Technique through a desire to be a better performer & alleviate chronic pain. After graduating acting school, I was aware that there was still something missing in my performance. An element of truthfulness that needed to be explored. I took improv classes, had Feldenkrais lessons, focused more on truth-telling in singing and explored many other avenues, but eventually found myself thinking that maybe this “Alexander thing” was what I needed.
So I began my studies in AT, and within a short time, I found that the chronic back pain I’d been experiencing every morning wasn’t destroying my sleep the way it used to. I was also able to be present & focused in a way I hadn’t experienced before, and I got two centimetres taller! The changes in my day to day movement and attention were what made me decide that I needed to teach this work.
As I’ve continued with the work, I’ve noticed more ease in my singing and more authenticity in my acting. The technique continues to allow me to find new possibilities in each rehearsal and performance.
